On Mother’s Day Shangri-La Country Hotel near Bela Bela celebrated its 24th birthday! The hotel opened its doors to the public on Mother’s Day 1990, and has gone through various transformations, face lifts and renovations throughout the years, to give you the welcoming haven it is today.
“We’re extremely chuffed,” says General Manager Ken Strydom, grinning from ear to ear. “Shangri-La has been in the industry for quite some time, and despite reinventing ourselves, we still offer our guests the same quality experience as when we opened in the early nineties. This has been our magical recipe that lets our guests return year after year.”
The celebrations went hand in hand with the annual Mother’s Day luncheon, which is not only popular amongst travellers, but also locals. Says Strydom, “Our wine tasting evenings have proven to be a hit with local guests who yearn for a unique destination to enjoy exceptional cuisine. Shangri-La has become this venue, and we look forward to hosting more events to cater for our local clientele and visitors from outside the Waterberg.”
